Bocas del Toro Fire Relief

A devastating fire raged through Bocas del Toro in the early morning hours of 13 April, affecting 7 iconic businesses in the Bocas downtown- the worst fire in town for 100 years! Clean up is underway, but we need your help to support this endeavor as well as take care of the affected workers and their families.
Bocas has been our home for over a decade, so Floating Doctors is partnering with Bocas Rotary Club, Give and Surf, The Bocas Breeze Newspaper, and key community members to help those affected.
All donations made through this campaign will go directly to support the businesses and people who we are so lucky to call neighbors. Please help Bocas rebuild after this tragedy!

On 13 April, 2024, tragedy struck Bocas del Toro on Isla Colon. A massive fire raged through the south end of main street, engulfing multiple buildings in flames.

While everyone was able to evacuate and there were no reported casualties, multiple businesses were affected. These include Om Cafe, Reggaeland, Red Snapper, Annie’s Place/Hostal del Mar, a boat repair shop (Rukel), Ocean Sky Bocas Hotel (formerly Azul Paradise) and Buena Vista. For 24 hours, the emergency responders worked to extinguish the flames, reduce the risk of embers spreading to more businesses, and ensure the safety of the community.

It isn't just the buildings and businesses themselves that are affected; nearly 40 people are now without work, adding to the challenges their families face daily. The support you provide will help clean up the debris provide financial assistance to the families affected by the fire.
